In the Garden, a Grey Day...

My thoughts on this post begin
as many do
when I share Spring shots from my Seattle garden...

It is a grey day
it has been a grey week...

I often find myself
waiting / hoping
for a day of better light
as I watch the peak of beauty
slip from the garden...

This morning as I shot photos..
I pondered on that...

it is so much like
that perfect dress in your closet
that you have no where to wear...
or
the china in your cupboard
that you never use...

I am afraid to let life slip by,
waiting for the perfect moment...

I plan to work on that,
finding a place to wear THAT dress,
enjoying the good china...
and
grabbing an umbrella to enjoy the garden anyway!

CREATE the life I want

so bundle up and join me...

I have spoken enough,
I will let you stroll quietly...

Chase your Bliss!

Magnolia Blooms and Toe Shoes....

I was feeling
girlie,
whimsical,
PINK...

so what better way to represent that
than
 Magnolia Blooms & Toe Shoes...

the Kwansan Cherry
just came into bloom...

the blooms always make me think of tissue paper flowers...
pure delight....

Road Trip - Mima Mounds...

I love road trips!

I am always ready to explore
my Washington backyard...

Mima Mounds
is only an hour South of me
in Little Rock, WA...

I had never even heard of it...

637 acres of mystery mounds...

partly in the forest...

opening into a vast prairie......

there are lots of theories
of how they were created....

but,
this may be my favorite...
:-)

can you imagine 600+ acres of gophers
sitting proudly atop their mounds!

it was a very grey Washington day...

the bright hues of green
popping on the landscape...

 damp and mossy trails
through the forest...

picnic tables
perched atop the mounds...

on May 13
they will celebrate Prairie Days here...

the field are expected to be heavily in bloom,
I am hoping to make a trip down to see that!

on this day,
I saw the very first tiny blooms...

wild Strawberries...

lovely patches of Trillium lined the forest edge...

thanks for riding along on my road trip,
I hope your weekend was great too!

Have  a Beautiful Day!

Looking for Rainbows...

The saying goes...
When it Rains
look for Rainbows...

so I have been looking...

we have been having quite a wet week here...

the garden is awake,
and so are the dandelions!

the Woody Hyacinth,
a plant straight out of a fairy land...

the Magnolia Tree
is a stunner...

just a little taller than me
when I planted it 17 years ago...

the Tulips in the front bed,
the hail got to them before I did...

the first Sweet Forget-Me-Not
begin to bloom...

endearing,
unforgettable

the leaves of the unfurling Ladies Mantle
hold giant beads of rain...

be still my
Bleeding Heart....

Shrinking Violets & Tea...

I love Spring...

it is my favorite season...
it is sweet
&
 full of promise...

Spring
shows that all things are possible...

so today
I celebrate it
and sip some tea...

tiny modest violets
in a creamer and strewn about..

I love Violets.

when I was a girl I remember
picking then at my grandmothers house
tiny bundles in my tiny hands...

later
I used to love those sets of bath salts
they were packaged in cubes
and bundled into a row
each a different scent...

my favorite cubes were the violet ones...

the shy violet,
her head nodding,
unassuming...

shrinking

my chintz cup
in the violet pattern..

 has no mate,
but is perfect as she is...

sweet bites
of blueberry loaf...

a simple tea,
mix matched dishes...
shy violets....

delicious,
unassuming,
so sweet.

Have a Beautiful Day!
